Customer Reviews
What customers saw in the finished painting
These real customer stories help you judge likeness, finish quality, and how the portrait feels once it is on the wall.
My Lightning, you were beside me through countless competitions, countless training sessions, countless failures, and countless moments of success. I will keep you in my heart forever.
The technique is beyond praise—the portrait is so lifelike and delicate, with tremendous feeling. I specifically chose an artist who specializes in pets, and the result is completely different from the inexpensive work you see elsewhere. If you want a pet portrait, you can choose them with complete confidence.
Our Wang Tiezhu finally has his own portrait—a little cat beneath the sunflowers. May he always stay as bright and happy as sunshine.
The painting turned out beautifully. At first I worried it might not be good, but customer service explained that they would send a photo for approval before shipping. They were very patient throughout.
The artist patiently helped with revision after revision. Thank you.
For the Year of the Horse, I commissioned an artist to paint a sweeping scene of galloping horses. The painting has tremendous feeling and a wonderful material quality in person. You can tell it was made by an accomplished painter, and the color control is excellent. My family loves it.
I love this rich, ever-changing sense of texture. These colors express the warmth my Michi gives me—when he is beside me, the whole world lights up. The artist did a wonderful job. Thank you.
The artist is highly skilled and captured the soul of my companion.
This tousled, free-spirited little one is my Salt. One month after you left, you can be with me forever again, Salt.
I asked Artist Yang to paint it, and the result speaks for itself. The price is reasonable and absolutely justified by the quality. I will come back every year to have another portrait made of our little one. Highly recommended.
There was no little butterfly in front of Lulu in the original photo. The artist chose to add one, which made the composition feel more lively and warm. I especially love it.
Mr. Shuai painted my little lion—my brave little lion.
Our custom pet oil painting has arrived, and it captures our little companion's expression perfectly—even that proud little look is rendered beautifully. The background suits the pet's personality, and having it at home feels as though our companion is always with us. It is incredibly comforting.
The quality of this oil painting is extremely high. The brushwork feels natural, fluid, and generous, and the colors are beautifully judged. You can tell at once that this is a high-end oil painting. The artist is clearly a leader in the craft. It is excellent value at this price.

Custom portrait FAQs
We hope these notes help you understand the full custom process with greater clarity and confidence, from preparing your photos to receiving the finished artwork.
How is the price determined, and which payment methods can I use?
The price updates clearly as you choose the artist tier, size, framing, number of people or pets and any Rush Service available for the portrait.
At checkout, you’ll see the payment methods available for your region and currency. Taxes, delivery charges and any other amount due will also appear before payment, giving you time to look everything over before continuing.
Can I place my order first and submit the photos later?
Yes. Choose Send later to complete the order first, then visit Upload Photos when the photos are ready.
Please add at least one clear photo of every person or pet who will appear in the artwork. You can add up to 3 photos for each subject, and each file can be up to 20 MB. If you ordered more than one portrait, prepare a separate group of photos for each artwork. PFH will review the submitted references and contact you if something needed for production is missing or unclear.
What photos and reference materials should I submit, and how are they handled?
Choose a well-lit, original-resolution photo in which the person, pet or important detail is clear and unobstructed. PFH reviews the references before production and will contact you if another photo or more information is needed.
Your original reference photos are not displayed publicly. PFH uses them to create the artwork and manage the order. For Emerging and Established commissions, the OpenAI API helps prepare a direction Preview; information processed by OpenAI is handled under the applicable API terms and settings, separately from PFH’s own working-copy retention.
PFH may display the completed artwork on its website, social media, advertising or printed material, but does not publish your reference photos, name, address or exact location for that purpose. You may ask PFH not to display the completed artwork. PFH deletes unneeded working copies of reference photos within 30 days after delivery is confirmed, unless information must be kept to handle a dispute, claim, chargeback or legal requirement.
See our Privacy Policy for the complete details.
Can people or pets from different photos be combined in one painting, and can the composition be adjusted?
Yes. One portrait can bring together up to six people or pets. If your idea includes more than six, contact us before ordering. We’ll look carefully at the space and detail each one will need and help you find the best approach.
For an Emerging or Established commission, we can bring people or pets from separate photos together in the direction Preview. Emerging commissions generally use a simpler background, while Established commissions can offer more refined background options. What is possible still depends on the reference photos, composition and selected artist.
Before painting begins, we can refine the background, clothing, placement, pose or action. For a Master commission, the creative concept is agreed before painting begins. If the reference material limits a particular approach, we’ll explain it clearly and help you find a suitable direction.
If the artwork includes any person—alone or together with pets—choose the corresponding Human Portrait. A Pet Portrait is created for pets; a pet can appear in a Human Portrait when it belongs to the shared story.
After painting begins, up to 3 detail revisions are included for colours, patterns or similar details that do not change the overall image. The composition, people or pets, actions and poses therefore need to be confirmed before painting begins.
What happens after I place my order?
We’ll begin by looking carefully at the photos and details you have shared. If anything important is missing or unclear, we’ll write to you and help you complete it.
For an Emerging or Established commission, the next step is a direction Preview. You have 3 calendar days to request changes or add photos. If we have not heard from you when that period ends, we’ll take the direction as confirmed and continue arranging the portrait. Each new Preview begins a new 3-calendar-day review period.
For a Master commission, the creative concept is agreed before painting begins. Once the direction is ready, the artist begins creating the hand-painted artwork. Before it leaves us, we’ll send you a photo of the completed work so you can see it ready for its journey.
How does Rush Service work?
Rush is available for eligible Emerging and Established commissions; Master commissions follow their individual schedule. For a Small portrait, Rush can reduce the usual production time from about 15 days to about 7 days. For Medium, Large and Oversized portraits, production and scheduling are usually about 40% shorter.
Review, replies, eligible revisions, drying, framing, packing, customs and delivery still need time. If you have an important date, tell PFH as early as possible. See the current guidance in our Shipping Policy.
Which sizes and framing options are available?
The portrait page shows the sizes and framing choices available for that work. Think about the space where the portrait will live, then choose the combination that feels most at home there.
As you choose, the page updates the total and shows which options can be ordered together.
Approximately how long will my portrait take?
Usual Custom production guides are:
Small — about 15 days; with eligible Rush, about 7 days
Medium — about 30 days; with eligible Rush, usually about 40% shorter
Large — about 45 days; with eligible Rush, usually about 40% shorter
Oversized — about 60 days; with eligible Rush, usually about 40% shorter
Production starts when PFH has suitable photos and the required order information and the first direction Preview is confirmed, or its 3-calendar-day review period ends without a reply. Each new direction Preview has its own 3-calendar-day review period. A Master commission starts on its individually agreed schedule after the creative direction is confirmed. Delivery time is separate. See our Shipping Policy and tell PFH early if an arrival date is important.
What if I need to change or cancel my order?
If you cancel, the refund follows the stage reached when PFH receives the request:
Not yet scheduled — 100%
Scheduled, but painting has not started — 100%
First direction Preview confirmed, or its 3-calendar-day review period ends without a reply — 80%
Painting has started — 70%
Artwork completed — 30%
Shipped — 20%; the artwork must be returned to PFH, and the applicable refund is issued within 3 working days after PFH receives and verifies it
Each later direction Preview has another 3-calendar-day review period but does not create a new refund percentage. See our Refund Policy or contact PFH with the order number.
What if the artwork arrives damaged?
If the artwork arrives damaged, contact PFH as soon as possible and within 48 hours after delivery. Include the order number and clear photos of both the artwork and its packaging. PFH will review the evidence and explain the available remedy and any return requirement under the Refund Policy.
Will I see a direction Preview before painting begins?
The finished artwork is hand-painted by the artist. Emerging and Established commissions use the OpenAI API to prepare a direction Preview before painting begins; it is not the finished artwork. Master commissions follow their individual consultation process and do not use AI. PFH deletes unneeded working copies of reference photos within 30 days after delivery is confirmed, subject to the limited exceptions in our Privacy Policy.
What if the portrait doesn’t feel accurate?
Before painting begins, the creative direction can be shaped according to the selected artist tier and process. Emerging and Established commissions may refine the direction Preview without a fixed round limit at that stage. Master commissions agree the creative direction through their individual consultation.
After painting begins, every tier includes up to 3 eligible detail revisions for colours, patterns or similar details that do not change the overall image. Composition, people or pets, actions and poses must be confirmed before painting begins. Before shipping, PFH sends a photo of the completed work; you have 3 calendar days to request an eligible detail review or tell us that you need longer. This final check does not create a new refund percentage. Defects, artwork not as described, transit damage and consumer rights are handled separately under the Refund Policy.
