Gefang Village Sketch 2 begins with the weight of boats packed close to the quay. Dark hulls press against one another across the lower half of the canvas, their masts and small red flags rising into the grey air like quick signals of work still waiting to be done. The ochre wall behind them holds the harbor in place, while the green-grey water below keeps the whole scene moving just enough to feel alive.

Li Zhenhong paints this harbor through mass and pressure rather than anecdote. Thick, broken strokes build the boat sides into dark blocks, then loosen into dragged marks where water touches the hulls. The red flags are small, but their colour matters: against the muted boats and damp sky, they give the working port a pulse without turning it theatrical.

Seen beside the first Gefang Village sketch, this second work moves closer to the labor of the harbor. The diagonal shore and open distance of the first painting give way here to compression, registration marks, rigging, and clustered boats.
